Civil Rights don’t matter to Bow Wow because he’s mixed

Shad Gregory Moss aka Bow Wow a/k/a Mr. 106 and Park (as if that’s something to be proud of) a/k/a the Boo-Boo Bear to Jermaine Dupri’s Yogi Bear recently pulled a Raven Symone better than Raven-Symone (I wonder if he’s her spirit animal). When he said in a series of tweets that he doesn’t do politics because he’s learned that “all the world leaders are controlled by an upper power that no one knows about” and that he is not black but mixed and because of this he cannot relate to the Civil Rights struggle that his ancestors faced because he didn’t know what they were going through 0_o, in the words of a nun cum again.

Of course, with Twitter being Twitter, Bow Wow wasn’t able to get away with his political and racial opinions without being challenged, then he tried to defend his stance which caused him to dig a hole with every subsequent tweet. And for good measure, Bow Wow tweeted a picture of his biological father, hoping to prove that he his in fact mixed, which backfired since his father looks like Philip Michael Thomas in retirement.

If you ask me the only thing that Bow Wow is mixed with is Lil Mama and Don Lemon’s barber, but that’s just me. Moving on…

Seriously, let that sink in for a minute, this is Bow Wow: the former child rapper that appeared in Snoop Doggy Dogg’s (as he was known at the time) Gin ‘n Juice video, used to c-walk in his own music videos, and even dated Ciara before Future (I hit it first). I don’t know about you, but that’s some black-ass-shit if you ask me; and now Mr. Wow is saying that because he wasn’t around to physically see the struggles of his ancestors he cannot relate to them. I swear Tiger Woods is somewhere blushing.

Now I’m not here to play Judge Joe Brown nor am I here to tell Shad how he should view his racial makeup but despite how much money he has or how he feels about himself, he is still referred to as a Nigger by a large portion of the population, despite his new found mixed heritage. It is misguided of him to deny the half of him that has been held under the establishments thumb for 400 years and currently, systematically hunted down on a daily basis.

The fact that he doesn’t want to vote because of some mysterious shadowy figure that supposedly runs everything is his prerogative and unfortunately he isn’t the only person to feel that voting is a waste of time; but for someone to downplay the significance of our ancestors that literally and figuratively gave their lives so that we as African Americans can have the right to vote just because he wasn’t there is problematic and dangerous.

What do you think?

Talk to me, I’ll talk back.
