Tell Em Why You Mad Son, The Kanye West Edition.

Kanye West is on the war path again (what else is new) and he will not be taking what he feels is a snub from the Grammy’s for not being nominated for this year’s Album of the Year lightly.

Damn Ye, why can't you be happy with two Grammy nominations

Kanye stopped in Mid Concert during his Yeezus Tour in Arizona this week, to take the moment out to theorize why he was snubbed for 2013’s pick for Album of the Year. claiming that the U.S Recording Academy is basically racist for not recognizing his musical genius or the importance of the Yeezus album.

“I’m 36-years old and I have 21 Grammys. That’s the most Grammys of any 36-year old. Out of all of those 21 Grammys, I’ve never won a Grammy against a white artist. So when the Grammys nominations come out, and ‘Yeezus’ is the top one or two album on every single list. But only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say? Do they think that I wouldn’t notice? Do they think that, someway, that I don’t have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment?” he said.

While what constitutes an Album of the year is basically opinion based, Kanye would rather people bow down and fall in line with his over inflated opinion of his self. Never mind that to some (like me) the album was/is an incoherent mess with no clear direction. Or the fact that it seemed like Kanye made an album that he felt was anit-establishment and anti-radio just so people can comment on how daring an edgy it was. But then turn around and get mad at the establishment for not breaking out the knee pads and recognize just how great he is.

Even though Kanye is nominated for two Grammys for Best Rap Album (for “Yeezus”) and Best Rap Song (for “New Slaves”), it seems that’s not enough. Instead of being happy with the two nominations or people congratulating him it appears Kanye would rather pout while taking his ball home because he can’t get his way. “People come to me and congratulate me on those two nominations. Fuck those nominations!”

I don’t know. I understand that every artist feels that his/her album is album of the year, which is no different for Kanye, even if he does take it too far at times. But truth be told, I don’t see it, the Yeezus album was not only not his best, but IMO it definitely isn’t album of the year.

What do you think?

Talk to me, I’ll talk back.
