Jesus Walks?

So Yeezus believes Jesus walks with him, so much in fact that he brought him out on stage during the kick off portion of his Yeezus tour. Jesus made a cameo appearance during a performance of Kanye’s hit “Jesus Walks” during a Seattle tour stop. Once on stage Kanye and Jesus had a brief conversation with Kanye telling Jesus, “I’ve been waiting for you my whole life.”
“Jesus” responded in part, “I didn’t come here to make bad people feel good. l came here to make dead people alive.”

He's done it again
He’s done it again

Now for those that have followed Kanye throughout his career, knows that he relishes pushing the envelope while trying to prove his genius. Ranting at awards show, earlier in his career, spazzing out on paparazzi, and wearing leather skirts are all part of Kanye’s repertoire to keep us talking. But it’s his most recent acts of eccentricity that not only has fans scratching their heads but Christians of all denominations seeing red. And how could they not? Naming his latest Album Yeezus where he basically compares his self to Jesus Christ and now bringing an actor pretending to be Jesus out on stage with him, has people has he lost his damn mind?

Even though I try not to care, I often wonder why does Kanye do the things that he does. I mean why would he think it would be a good idea to have an actor pretending to be Jesus Christ come on stage with him? Or proclaiming his self a god? All of this from someone who has made references to being a Catholic in the past. And that’s what’s so confusing about all of this, while I’m no Catholic, I’m pretty sure they probably find the whole thing to be sacrilegious. I’m guessing a strike of lighting is what it’s going to take to knock some sense into Kanye, but knowing him if he survives that’ll add to his God complex.

As I’ve said in previous posts, I may not be the perfect Christian but I do have sense enough not to play with God. I’m all for artistry and being different, but I have to draw the line somewhere and for me that line was naming his album Yeezus.

So what do you think? Has Kanye lost his damn mind? Or is this just another case of Kanye being Kanye? If you are a believer, do you find this latest incident to be offensive.

Talk to me, I’ll talk back.

  1. I will say as a believer, I’m not offended. The question is do people have faith in the Spirit or in the flesh? My faith is in the Spirit, which has no form nor any complexion.

  2. And that’s why I say Kim and Kanye are perfect for each other… anything for the spotlight.

As far as Kanye goes an individual. I think Kanye is brilliant but he doesn’t know how to “properly” channel that energy. Some of his antics are over the top but its expected. He came on the scene like this so I guess its to be expected.

    1. And I think that Kim is the somewhat normal “one” in the relationship”. How often do you get to say that?

Kanye is a electic and briliant, but at what point is enough? He went from being a somewhat humble Catholic on his first album to now being a Demigod. I do expect him to push lines and boundaries, but I don’t expect him to declare himself a God while making Jesus Christ an entertianment prop at a concert.

IMO this is no different than The Preachers of L.A.

  3. I can’t comment on him comparing himself to Jesus or calling himself a “God” ( I have no interest his hearing the latest CD), but him bringing Jesus out is not an issue for me. Plenty of other entities have brought out a Jesus-impersonator, and no one is up in arms. Heck, there’s a Bible-themed theme park here in Florida called Holy Land, where the Resurrection is re-enacted! Kanye is a bit off, but I believe him to be a very deep, introspective individual who is constantly seeking acceptance, the truth, and more. Jesus Walks is probably my favorite Ye song, it’s very powerful, and I see nothing wrong with bringing out a representation of Jesus, to show the connection he has with him.

    1. Yeah neither am I. I’m not judging him or anybody that does it, I’m just voicing my opinion. I would be a lie to say I was the perfect Christian, but like I said there are some things that don’t sit right with me and make me wonder WTF?

  4. Soooooo….movies like “Passion of the Christ” or Broadway plays like “Jesus Christ superstar” are sacrilegious also right? Or what about that “picture” of Jesus hanging on the wall? Come on man. It’s ok to dislike Ye’ for whatever reason, but people are just fishing now. I can name at least TWENTY rappers that have called themselves gods, (ten are part of the same group) why when Kanye does it, it ruffles so many feathers? I don’t get what it is about Kanye that brings out the hate?
